NOW Devil’s Claw is derived from the root of the Harpagophytum procumbens plant, native to the southern regions of Africa. It gets its name from the tiny hooks that cover its fruit. Traditionally used by African tribes, and later adopted by European and North American herbalists, Devil’s Claw is valued for its natural support of joint and digestive health. This herbal extract is rich in naturally occurring compounds including harpagoside, phytosterols, phenolic acids, and flavonoids (such as kaempferol), known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
